I have always believed in fate, destiny, luck and all the coincidences that can happen in life but cannot be explained scientifically (almost).

For one thing I am sure is: I am at one of the lowest time of my life so far.

I can hardly find any explanation for all these happenings except to blame it on my unluckiness . Therefore , I must find a way to be luckier! Mama says I cannot go pray now since it's the lunar 7th month. I don't know why but I had a strange calling to go vegetarian on the bus ride to work. Being a self confessed carnivore, I have never tried successfully a single day of staying vegetarian. Strangly, today I had the very strong urge to stay vegetarian. I gave myself a week.

Amazingly, I didn't crave for meat today and I successfully passed the first day of the self imposed challenge!

I've finally bought my wallet after losing the old one in Bangkok more than 3 months ago ... And the first nice wallet I bought myself! ( the coach doesn't count since I grabbed that randomly from the factory outlet as it was cheap , ard 70 USD). Well, I didn't really buy this MYSELF... mr G has a 1/8 stake in it.... Lol....

This thing just looks so lovely and classy. Hope it lasts under my tough usage... Lol

2009 came and went so fast.
Was in Hakuba for the new year, didnt join any countdowns as body was too aching after a whole day of snowboarding lessons.

What did i achieve in 2009?

April 2009 - Vietnam
June 2009 - Vegas
August 2009 - Hongkong
October 2009 - Macau
December 2009 - Japan

Amazing. Lots of travel, depletion of savings. Is this what i want in life? or i just need an avenue to escape work?

Its just the start of the year and i am already counting down to my 2 years mark in this position. Money is ok but not very good. Lotsa leave ( but that is cos i have to work half day on saturday). The cons of having to work half day on saturdays is that i am rest deprived. It does not help either when i use all my off days on travelling. Therefore, i am effectively working 5.5days week and went travelling using these off days in lieu every other month.

Since my hatred for this position is quite apparent, i need to work out something to motivate myself to live each day. This is what i have planned out for myself for 2010:

Jan 7- Back from Japan
Feb 14- CNY
Mar - Bkk trip
Apr- good friday ( not that i am a christian, just that the thought of having a public holiday makes me happier)
May- Labour Day and Vesak Day
June- My BIRTHDAY
July- 2 years in OCBC! Hopefully i can get an internal transfer, or a new job before this. I have given myself 2 years in sales and the deadline is reaching
August - National Day and Mr G's birthday
September- Hari Raya Puasa
October - NOTHING
November- Deepavali and Hari Raya Haji
December- Christmas

At least this will keep me slightly happy for now.

PS: thanks Mr G for making 2009 so wonderful for me. 2 yrs together and more to come.

Day 3 in Japan @ Hakuba

Took 4 hrs train to come hakuba from tokyo. Its a little village with nothing much to do except snow activites. Speaking of which, we have signed up for a full day snowboarding course tomorrow. Expensive! Lesson: 9500yen, Ski Gears: 3500yen, Ski clothings: 3000yen, Ski shades: 3980yen (we bought this)and ski pass: 4600yen.

Although its not snowing now, the forcast says it will snow starting tonight. Its already cold enough now but snowing would be interesting.

View at our hotel window is nothing but breathtaking!

Its a cosy little lodge ( u cant even locate it on the map) where there is no tv in the room. More like a hostel, it has a communal area for tv, eating and a kitchen! Not too sure if we will get a chance to cook here.

Look forward to snowboardng tomorrow! expect it to be a tiring day!

2) get some thermal wear ( cheapo me is waiting for some sale)

Mr G's 'business trip' to Sydney

Mr G went sydney for a week! He didnt bring me along cos:

1) i do not have extra leave as i have planned all leaves till the end of the year and this is pretty last minute

2)It is freaking expensive to book airticket 1 week prior to departure!

So in the end, i was left in Singapore ..with some leave to clear. 3 days to be exact.

But cos of this business trip, i had some interesting presents. Too interesting....

Scary Scary Scary. Try sitting in a cab that jerks all the way from Kembangan to Woodlands, and have the cab driver stopping at a traffic light THAT IS GREEN!!!!
2 reasons: either the car is really old and is in desperate need of some repair, or THE CAB DRIVER IS DOZING OFF!!!! i seriously believe its the latter.
Why? 1)the cab can suddenly decelerate in the middle of the expressway when there is no car in front. 2) the cab stops at the traffic light that is showing green. 3) when i asked him "is there anything wrong with the cab since it's jerking so badly?" and his reply is "Sorry Sorry"

Anyway, its a Premier Taxi SHB 8654 E. Beware if u see this cab!

I went F1 Rocks on THursday with KJ instead of Mr G. Poor Mr G, he had food poisoning. Since its a Thursday and KJ is perpetually off on Thursdays, she was kind enough to go with me - straight from gym and without make-up. Thank You. But it wasnt a fabulous show with the occasional technical glitch and 1 hr for each artiste is TOO short! Not to mention the rowdy uncle in front of us, maybe he thought its still the 7th month and he is at some getai.

My netbook had plastic surgery this afternoon and came out pink as pink panther. The shop owner could guessed i like pink so he suggested pink for my keypad protector too.
Then went Millenia Walk with Mr G to get his watch winder. Didnt know that watches have winders till recently. Suagu!!!!

And last program for my precious Saturday was prawning at Farmart. Spent 2 hrs there and caught a freaking TWO prawns!!!!! Waste of time and money!! In the end we gave away the only TWO prawns we caught cos we cant think of what to cook with the two prawns. Maggie mee?

PS: Mr G is craving for my carrot cake! Treat me better and ur carrot cake will taste better!!

Back from my HongKong trip

Been back since wednesday. Alien was so cruel to force me to go back work the day after i reached Singapore at 12am. Waited to clear custom n bought some liquor at DFS and its nearly 2am when i reach home. Slack around abit, unpack abit and it was bed time at 330am. The next morning, saw an sms from her asking me to report for work at 12 cos 1 guy was on mc so the remaining guy did an one-man-show. LIKE I CARED!!! Official reporting time for half day is 130pm!!!!! Over my dead body will i go the extra mile for her n him. So i happily slack around and reach around 1pm. Hey, i was being nice to go half an hr extra ok? Not that she was appreciative also.

Discovered more n more place to visit on this trip. The last trip to HK, i was too reliant on Mr G. This time round, i had to be the guide so had to do more research. Went 4 places this time round, all packed in a 7D6N itinerary. HongKong, Shenzhen, Macau, Zhuhai. Other than me n mama, i brought along Medium Piglet and Ah Neh for this trip.

Hong Kong was much like the last time when i was there with usual庙街and女人界. However, as mama just had an operation done, we did not get to eat any seafood and any food she consider ' poisonous', ie no duck, no roasted goose, no seafood. She claimed she cannot eat mango too but i insisted on that one. How can i miss out my fav mango?

Next we went Shenzhen. This time round, we managed to explored further than the 罗湖商业城。We took the Shenzhen metro to 老街which is 2 stations away from the train station that links shenzhen to hk. and the grand price for this metro ride: 2RMB! The single trip ticket is a cute little green token which u use it to scan on their gantry. Interesting.

Over at 老街, there's freaking alot of things to buy. But didnt shop much there, wasnt really in the mood to shop as we were more concerned on looking out for electronic shop where mama can get her electronic dictionary. But to be more objective, there are alot of stuff there and the price i assume is pretty cheap compared to Singapore standard. Saw a few shops that sells everything for 2RMB. They sell rings, earrings, chains, hair accessories, fake eye lashes etc all for 2rmb! Went in like a hungry monster and started throwing things into the little basket i was holding! SO cheap!!!

On the 4th day, we went over Macau and met up with Mr G. Think Mr G really liked the place there and is happily obsessed with the poker tables there. I wanted to play as well, even though i know i will be a donator on the table. But as mama was with me, i cannot leave her alone so in the end, played a bit of blackjack only. I want go back again!!!!!

2nd day in Macau we went over the Zhuhai. 1 word to describe: CHEAP. Very CHEAP indeed. The mall in Zhuhai was not as scary as the 1 in Shenzhen where u get the touts stalking you. Bought quite abit of stuff from there. One thing to note: the manicure was much more expensive there. They charge 50rmb for mani and pedi and 250rmb for gel extention. You can get mani and pedi for 30rmb in SZ and gel for 80rmb!!!!

For the final 2 days we went back to HK and went to the distribution centre as recommended by Mr G's mum. Its at a MTR station called 荔枝角and u exit throught exit C from the station. Cant really remember the name for the building. There is a shop selling egg tarts n bread right after u exit from the station. Yummy Yummy. Their egg tart n puo luo bao is heavenly and cheap! Egg Tart for 3HKD and the bread for 2.5HKD! Next, at the distribution centre, i suspect they are having change of season sale. The clothes on sale are generally lesser than 50HKD. A steal at 10SGD! Went on a buying spree till mama says shes 2 tired. Oh well, ill be back!

Mr G is quarter-of-a-century old as of yesterday.
Gave him a tie and cuff link.
Intended to bring him to Brazil Churrascaria at Holland Village, a big disappointment though.
Found the restaurant to be totally empty! Oh well, it might be empty as its a weekday. Decided we shall not have his birthday dinner at an empty restuarant. And since we are already at Holland V, we reckon that we shall walk around searching for food. In the end, we settled for Chicago's SteakHouse. Mr G exclaimed: Same as the 1 at Cine! However, i spotted the word ' The Fine Side' in fine print on the signboard. hmn....End up, its a more high class version of the 1 in Cineleisure. Price more expensive, quality better. But the Drunk Fish n Chips was a big let down. The Angus steak Mr G ordered was so-so, still lose to the steak we had at Vegas. It rocked!

A new computer

A small tiny netbook! No more bulky laptops for me!

and i can bring a small tiny computer with me for my Hong Kong trip!

But too bad they do not have an interesting netbook in pink. Wanted to get the lenovo one that is available in pink but THE MODEL WAS OUT OF STOCK.

Somehow, Mr G recommends ASUS more than Lenovo. So in the end, its Asus for me!

Mr G asked why i have not updated my blog for soooooo long? well, not that nothing happened. Many things happened actually but its mostly about work and i reckon its silly to talk about work outside office?
Anyway, have been feeling rather pissed off at work these few days. Felt that the alien is DAMN biased towards a certain animal. Makes me hate the animal too. Too bad Lavene that i have to hate your pet. lol...

Wednesday today, 3 more days to a long weekend that Mr G planned something interesting instead of going for a short weekend trip. And after the long weekend will be my HK trip! Shopping!

Sales update

Went for sales update just now and cos im taking part in the English solo, i had a temporary hair perm sponsored by boss. Didnt expect her to pay though. There were 6 awards to be won altogether. Solo- CHinese, Solo-English, Duet, Group, CLuster song and best Cluster. Best of all: West cluster won NONE!!! Quite disappointing but cannot deny that we did not put in enough effort. Sometime i wonder, if i can sing chinese solo, would things have been different? This premier guy insist on singing cantonese and claimed SURE WIN so i have to sing an English song. Since when i listen to english song???? i think the number of english songs i know how to sing is countable using fingers!

An interesting conversation took place at the sales update:

Germaine: Oh, she quit liao. Go join U**.

Boss: Wah, u not going to join U** right?

Germaine: No la, i wont jump from 1 shit to another shit.

The rest of the conversation i cant really remember content. I bet she's scared that i will resign, and that probably explains her attitude towards us these days.It is not mandatory to stay back to call. She doesnt shout at us. And most incredibly ( not that i am really interested), she wants to CHILL OUT with us, including those who has quitted and is quitting. Just what is she thinking of?

And another more ridiculous story:

I left the jacket Boss lend me at Kbox. So i called up a female colleague to see if she is still there. Cos im pretty nobody wants to steal THAT jacket so its probably a case of me forgetting to bring it back. Then she advise me to call Mr C*******. Called Mr C and he asked me to call him back in 5 min during which he goes to look for the jacket. SMSed him after 5 mins

Germaine: Hi, Germaine here. U manage to find it?

Mr C: Yup

Woke up at 9am this morning. Been at really long time since i woke up so early on a Sunday.

Decide to go K Lunch with Mr G. Really cheap, we paid $27 for 2 person for 3 hours of solid singing. I mean solid singing when i am singing 99% of the time. 1% of the time when he is singing, he did not manage to finish the song cos i ejected it. lol.

Choosy-eater Mr G did not like abit of the fish n chips at K Box so we made our way to the korean fried chicken shop at the basement. They have a really wonderful promotion. Student meal at $7.90 nett and it comes with a soft drink and a main course which usually cost around $12 - 14. Good bargain.

Saw this couple in at the other table. Shant mention their race. They ordered the student's meal ( i knew it cos i saw them showing their student pass to the waitress and the woman was from some poly which was showing on her EZ link but i fail to see which poly that is). The guy had some BBQ chicken and the woman had pasta. After eating for about 5 min, the woman was seen talking to a waitress and the waitress then took away the plate of pasta and walked away and shouted ' Too salty' in Chinese! WTF! For a $7.90 meal, she complained to the waitress that her pasta is too salty??????? But they still changed it for her in the end.

PS: im supposed to post more vegas pics here but have been feeling so tired these days. Just feeling like sleeping after coming back from work and it does not help that my laptop will sometimes make life really difficult for me. Time to sleep again. I thought i had quite sufficient sleep these few days but still feel sleepy. I duno why....

Singapore - Narita. Excited Excited Excited but damn tired cos we did not sleep abit the night before. The flight was at 5am so we needa reach airport by 3am anyway so there is no way we could have gotten proper sleep.

Finally reach Narita... I want get my Shiroi Koibito.

My lunch. Mr G had chicken teriyaki and i had beef. Its a funny hamburger beef patty with mash potato. I only ate a bite of the beef.

Finally reached Portland. Our 1st meal in USA: Wendy's. I wasnt really hungry after eating all the crap on the plane so i opted for a salad.

Finally reached Las Vegas...

People actually played slots in airport and WON!!! wow...

Next, we cab to our hotel: Caesars palace where we will be staying for the 1st 3 nights. Did a 20 dollars trick and get upgraded to Palace Tower with a view of the strip, a jacuzzi and a room which is twice the area of what we paid for.

4th day in Vegas

Vegas @ 26th June 2009, 1441hrs

This is the 1st day i have access to internet since i reached Vegas. Stayed at Caesars palace previously and they charged 15USD for 24 hours of internet. Since we are seldom in the room, Mr G thought it was redundant to apply for that. Just moved to Venetian this morning after a WHOLE night of gambling. We managed to stay alive after the whole night cos we slept 13 hours the previous night!!!!6am to 7pm!!! Wasted a precious day of sightseeing!! Already our 4th day here but there are still so much things we have yet to do!!!!Its been gambling and gambling and gambling... i want to win more so that i can do more free shopping!!! haha.....

PS: the venetian room is freaking big!!!! i reckon its about the same size of a Singapore 3-room HDB flat!!!!

24 years 1 day old and falling sick

Im 24 years + 1 day old!!!! Had a wonderful birthday yesterday. Earlier in the day was spent in a sucky environment( 85% of the time when im at work, i feel sucky. 10% of the happier days occur when THE ALIEN is on leave and the other 5% is when THE ALIEN is not feeling emotional...lol). But Mr G had a well planned day for me. ( Thanks for the effort). Had a surprise bouquet sent to my office. 24 blue roses with sweet williams.

Mr G had wanted to get me another piglet to add to the piglet family but the piglet next in size is ugly!!! Had a spongebob-shaped face!!!

Dinner was at a supposedly Mongolian Grill at Clarke Quay. Nice ambience but that probably all the good comment I have for this place. As Mr G puts it, " come here if you want unlimited diy mix-n-match fried bee hoon for S$40".

After dinner, we went Singapore Flyer..my 1st time there. Was supposed to go there last Xmas eve. As we went almost close to their closing time, we had the luxury of having the whole capsule to ourselves!!!! More pictures to be posted.

Been feeling sick these fews days, not offically sick though, just FEELING SICK. I dunch want to fall sick next week lest they dont let me board the plane!!!!

In two weeks time, I'll be on my way from Narita Airport to Portland International Airport before taking a domestic flight to Vegas. HOLIDAYS!!!!

Just added one more small hermit crab to my existing two.

and a change of environment.

fyi, the brown crab is HERBS, the green one is DJ ( stands for Diglet Jr cos he was bought to replace an older crab who apparently likes to dig the sand).
The miniature one has yet to have a name...suggestions???

Ho Chi Minh - 1st Day

As we are taking the afternoon flight, i managed to wake slightly later than the usual time i need to wake up for work. Then lazily took 858 to airport. Wasnt a very short journey but i think i slept on the way there. I suppose thats the way i manage all the long bus rides. SLEEP!!!! but make sure you do not oversleep, that is.

This is the 2nd time im going overseas with the gal throughout our 11 yrs friendship... was damn looking forward to it

As u guessed it, when two crazy gals meet up, they do crazy things...

We tried out the BIG FOOT available for trial , disregarding the hygiene factor!!!! so many people have probably put their FOOT inside before!!!!! and Cecilia cant seem to leave the Disney Kids corner!!! She would have missed the plane if i had not pulled her away.

Tan Son Nhat airport!!!!! We finally reached HCM!!! a much anticipated trip, after i nearly had to beg to obtain my leave. sighz

After checking into the hotel, we WALKed to ben thanh market. and frantically started looking for food! I had not eaten anything since the morning!! Since we had little dong with us, we had to find $ changer. But did not see any in sight. In our desperation, we had to ask the caucasians there. Understand that they are probably not locals but we had no choice!! The Viets probably speak little or no English and we speak no Viet!!!! Finally we got the answer... the $ changer is their gold shop!!!! Amazing but we made a dash for the nearest gold shop for the dong to buy the food we need desperately!
But even after obtaining our dong, we did not know what to eat for all menus are in Viet!! Finally spot a stall with English menu. Randomly ordered something off the menu. It a weird bowl filled with things that look like salad. Its cold and you have to add some sauce before u mixed up the whole bowl. But amazingly, it tastes good. refreshing. But even till know, i duno what this dish is called. Probably someone who happens to see this can enlighten me?
Ben Thanh offers nothing that caught our attention. Prices were steep too. And since we reach there about 4pm and the market closed at 5pm, we only managed to briefly explored the market before adjourning to the night market outside. Once we step outside, it was BUYING and bargaining non-stop. They offer bags from as low as S$5 but mostly cost S$10.
After all the shopping, its time to look for our dinner. The roadside stall offers appetitising snacks and decided that these shall be our dinner. Theres a stall that sells fried stuff like fishball, hotdogs, tofu, quails egg etc. dipped into a black sauce they provide. Yummy Yummy.

Another part of our dinner consist of some fried corn. they fry the corn with oil and other stuff and asked if we wanted egg. Egg with corn just doesnt sound right so we had it without the corn.

The picture speaks for itself. Scary. Amazingly, we tested about a quarter of the egg till we reach some spongy part which we had no idea what it is. Other than the unbearable spongy part, the egg white part takes like salted egg.

Our 战利品for Day 1. As like in Secondary school, we bought 2 tops in same design but different colours to be worn on the 2nd day.

Since im so free today, just slacking around dont feel like doing anything constructive. Scrolled through my camera's sd card, decide to load the pics into my comp as well as here.

A short summary of what happened the recent past
2-5 April - Vietnam trip with Cecilia
April - 1st May - Aunty Precy's visit ( she hasnt stepped into Sg for 9 yrs!!!)
26-31 May - Gab's Taiwan trip ( well, i dont get to go there, but i get pressies from there!!)

and next on 23rd June, its Vegas trip!!!!!!
